I’ve been waiting to tell you about this line! If you follow along on Instagram then you’ve heard me talking about their new and improved Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Regimen. I waited for about two months because I wanted to test out the longevity and be able to see if the products deliver what they claim to. If you want to hear about Rodan + Fields’ anti-aging skincare line then keep on scrolling to read more.
Here’s how Rodan + Fields describes the improved REDEFINE Regimen on their website:
The REDEFINE Regimen targets all visible signs of aging 24/7. Now works 3x better, 2x faster on visible wrinkles* + has even more benefits to visibly lift, sculpt + firm. Our clinically tested anti-aging routine improves the appearance of fine lines + deep wrinkles, uneven texture, loss of firmness, fullness + plumpness, while visibly tightening pores. This potent 3-step Regimen combines Retinoid Science, Botanical Extracts + exclusive Peptide Technology to help visibly smooth lines + wrinkles, plus lift, sculpt + define facial contours. Plus, the REDEFINE Regimen now offers a choice of cleansers and AM + PM moisturizers suited to your skin’s needs – any combination delivers the same results, for your best skin ever.
So, basically there are two cleansers varying in texture depending on what you like, one toner, two day options (cream or lotion) to choose from as well as two night options (cream or lotion variations). I LOVE that you can expect the same results from the line no matter your needs and texture preference. Rodan + Fields sent me all options for customization so I can share my thoughts with you. My decision process of choosing their products was based on my skin type and preference. Let’s unpack that process…
Step 1: Cleanser
There is a lightweight foaming cleanser and a thicker, grittier clay cleanser. They both smell the same (super fresh and clean scent). The foaming cleanser feels more gentle and I think it would work well for people with sensitive skin or dry skin. I used this cleanser in the morning when I didn’t have makeup on my face. I used about a dime size amount on wet skin and liked how it was foamy.
After wearing makeup all day, the clay cleanser seemed to work better for me. My skin gets oily and I wear face makeup from 6:45 am to 9:00 pm. I felt like the gentle exfoliating texture of the clay cleanser really cleaned the makeup products off of my skin. An added bonus of the clay cleanser is that it doubles as a pore refining mask! You can put it on dry skin, leave it on for two minutes and it will help pull out oil, dirt and impurities. My pores look nice and tight after I do this. I used it as a mask once or twice a week depending on how my skin was behaving (hormones, breakouts, etc). I like that both cleansers are packed with amino acids to boost visible firmness. Both formulas rinse off easily.
Step 2: Toner
I have to be honest here, I used to think toner was a product beauty brands just included in their regimens to make money and didn’t actually work. I was young and uneducated in skincare. Now, I’m almost 39 and can say that toner is a must if you wear makeup on your face.
I shake a little product out onto a cotton square and gently wipe it all over my face, neck & chest. It picks up what the cleanser misses, especially around the hairline, near my lips, near the brows and the sides of my nose. Unlike other toners that can dry my skin out, this one happens to be skin softening. This toner smells fantastic and makes my pores appear smaller. I love that it has Niacinamide which helps visibly even out skin tone and makes it look glowy. It’s also packed with fruit acids which help promote natural cell turnover. Cell turnover = youthful-looking skin. Don’t skip this step.
Step 3: Morning
So let’s talk texture. There’s lotion and there’s cream. Lotion is thinner in texture and cream is thicker and more rich. I chose to use the lotion over the cream because my skin doesn’t love thick textures. The lotion comes in a pump and goes on nice and thin making it work well under makeup. I use just one pump and it’s enough. I’ve been using it for months and still have half a bottle. The cream would be best for someone with dry skin. Both formulas have peptides, grape extract, and beet extract to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles making skin look nice and plump. They both have broad spectrum SPF 30 as well to help protect skin from sun exposure.
Step 3: Evening
Again, there’s lotion and there’s cream. I chose the Overnight Restorative Lotion because I found the Overnight Restorative Cream to be too oily for my skin. Night cream is really important. Skin repairs itself while we sleep so the products we wear to bed should be of high quality. I wake up and my skin looks plumped and moisturized. I have a few friends that absolutely RAVE about how the cream transformed their dry skin.
Bottom Line
In today’s day, everyone wants instant – and the same goes for skincare. Unfortunately, skincare truly does take 4-8 weeks to work and show results. That is why they have a 60-day back guarantee on all of their products, including empties. I notice fewer blemishes and glowy more even skin. My smile lines look less obvious and my skin just feels healthier and more firm.
