Valentine’s Day Pregame Essentials

I’ve been with Mr FSL for 12 years. We don’t do the fancy restaurant with prix fixe menu, price jacked red roses or lavish gifts. We aren’t the type of couple that show grand or cliche gestures. We do however exchange mushy cards and have a date night. Nothing too fancy, but it’s fun to celebrate being in love and a good excuse to plan a night out.

This year we got tickets to a concert. We are going to check out Action Bronson (if you follow my Instagram stories, you know I’m a hip-hop head). He’s the host of Viceland’s F*CK That’s Delicious!  which happens to be our favorite TV show to watch together. It’s like Anthony Bourdain meets underground classic hip hop ugh it’s so damn good. Obvs we are going to dinner first -probably somewhere we have never eaten (to keep with the adventurous food theme) and wash it all down with some unfiltered organic wine.

You guys know I love to pregame. Maybe sip a skinny marg while primping for an hour. Here’s how I’ll be getting ready for our V-Day date night.

Sips

I don’t mean to brag, but my husband makes the best skinny margarita on the planet. No sour mix (see ya extra carbs) or artificial sweeteners (bye migraines) and higher quality ingredients (hangover free). I wish I learned that better liquor translates to no hangover like 15 years ago. One of the perks of getting older I guess *shrugs*. Here’s a recipe for my fave skinny pomegranate margarita. The fact that it’s red makes it festive too.

Skin

Since it’s a night out, I make sure to allow some time to make my skin extra good. Good skin = good makeup. I love H2O+ sheet masks. They’re not the soggy pieces of tissue kind of sheet masks. They are like dry gel coated cotton masks that stick to your face (and come in two separate pieces to make the fit perfect). The best part about this particular mask is that I can do other things while I have it on because it is stuck to my face. I don’t have a spare 20 minutes to lay flat with a wet tissue on my face -gross. I use the brightening mask because my skin looks lit from within when I take it off.

Makeup

Can’t go wrong with a soft smokey eye, bronzy skin and a nude lip. I love how Teni puts it together in this tutorial.

Hair

I’ll be going smooth and sleek. I am obsessed with my new flat iron. The plates of the new Chi Lava heat up in seconds and never rip my hair out. I add a few drops of Moroccan Oil to the ends to keep it glossy and I’m good to go.

Scents

The Only One by Dolce & Gabbana is a floral fragrance perfect for Valentine’s Day with top notes of violet and bergamot. It comes it a beautiful bottle with a lacquer black cap and gold accents.

Clothes

Something along these lines. A distressed sweater is sexy without trying too hard paired with some slick leather leggings keep it edgy for the concert we are heading to. I will most likely wear different shoes because it’s freezing in CT and I’m too lazy and cheap to get a pedicure in the winter if we’re being honest here.
