I Tried Prose Custom Hair Products For A Month

I want to preface this post with the disclaimer that I am not a hair person. Not because I don’t want gorgeous thick silky hair because I do. I think I’m not a hair person because I have never had good hair. I’ve made many efforts to make it “good hair” and have failed every time. It’s dull and thin on top of being damaged and color treated. I’ve tried buying repair products but they don’t add shine and always seem to weigh my hair down making it look even thinner. I guess you can say I gave up on it altogether. But this is a photo I took today.

What is it?

Custom hair products. They’re a thing, in case you didn’t know. In a nutshell, Prose is customized for your hair needs -from your #hairgoals and your lifestyle to the environment you live in. I took an in depth 5 minute survey (exercise habits, diet, geographic location/environmental factors, etc). Apparently all of these factors impact your hair. Prose products are sulfate free, paraben free, dye free, mineral oil free, GMO free and cruelty free. The whole line is three products. A mask, shampoo and conditioner.

The Recipe

The products came with a diagnostic evaluation of my hair and what my goals are. There is a specific routine to follow. For example I was told to wash my hair every other day, mask once a week, and exactly how much product to use (5 pumps of shampoo, 4 pumps of conditioner, a quarter size dollop of mask product).

Specific Ingredients

Using the results from my diagnostic, the product ingredients are determined.

Results

I noticed results after one wash. Check out my notes lol! I research for you guys, you know that already though.

Bottom Line

Although the products are pricier than my usual Pantene ($25ish each for shampoo & conditioner and $44 for mask), I am using much less product. I started using it in October and I’d say I’m halfway through the shampoo and conditioner. I only used less than a quarter of the mask. I saw results right away. My hair has never looked better.
