NYX is a fave cosmetics brand for a few reasons.
- High quality. Easily on par with some higher end brands.
- Massive selection of products, finishes and color ranges.
- Availability. You can find NYX everywhere from Ulta to CVS.
Here’s a roundup (and links to shop!) of my top picks from NYX.
1. Setting Spray
I have used and loved both the matte and dewy finish setting sprays. The mist dispenses just the right amount of product. I actually like to spritz some onto my beauty blender to set my under eye concealer.
2. Twist up lip liners
These are a staple for me. The texture is creamy but stays put. There is a huge range of colors too. I like the automatic (twist up) pencil because who has time to sharpen a pencil while doing their makeup? Not me. Also, pencil shavings everywhere is going to be a no from me.
3. HD Primer
This primer is creamy so I use it on days that I don’t want the extra step of moisturizing first. I feel like this is similar to Smashbox’s primerize. My makeup doesn’t look patchy when I use this and lasts longer than if I didn’t use it.
My skin tends to get oily as the day goes on. I stash this in my desk and dust it on my T-zone and I’m good to go. It blurs the lines in my forehead too which I like.
5. Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick in Lace Detail is gorgeous. It’s a dupe of Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in the shade So Hollywood.
6. Simply Nude lip crayons are a daily wear for me. The lip crayons last longer than regular lipstick and waaaay longer than gloss. They have a creamy matte finish and are twist up. The whole line is flattering. And you know I love me some nude lippie.
7. Baked Blush in Wanderlust. I first discovered this after watching a Carli Bybel tutorial. She said it is a dupe for NARS Orgasm blush, and she was right. It’s a universally flattering peachy pink with flecks of gold shimmer.
I dust this translucent loose powder on to set my whole look (before setting spray). It “airbrushes” the skin. Since it’s an HD formula, it will not look weird in flash photography like powders can. It is quite similar to Make Up Forever’s HD loose powder.
I stumbled upon an NYX brush display at Ulta a few months ago and lost my mind. They are great quality and super affordable. This buffing brush is my favorite of the line. I use it to blend out contour and to apply bronzer and loose powder.
