Summer Mode: Current Favorite Margarita & Bikini

There are a few things synonymous with summer. Margaritas & bikinis being in my top 3. #1 happens to be the fact that I am a teacher which means a few weeks off to catch my breath.

I swear, each year I get stuck on a certain cocktail and it becomes my “summer draaaank”. Somehow a variation on a margarita has been my summer drank three out of the last 5 years. And I was pregnant one of those years so that doesn’t really count because I wasn’t drinking anything but h20 and milkshakes that summer. Last year I was into spiked seltzers. Then this past March I went to a birthday party and had more than I should have.

Worst. Hangover. Of. My. Life.

Back to the margarita. I have realized that I hate sour mix. That’s that mixer juice that you can buy in grocery stores that is basically 53,840,484,830 calories of pure sugar and a promise of a hangover with a side of cellulite. No thanks. *flips hair* I have discovered the simple margarita has only a few ingredients, tastes better (less sweet) and packs a punch with fewer calories.

I’ve teamed up with Viva XXXII Tequila and made a new summer drank recipe. Yes I have to say it like that.

Simple Pomegranate Margarita

2 ounces Viva XXXII Reposado Tequila
1 ounce triple sec
1 ounce pomegranate juice
lime (to garnish)
salt or sugar sprinkles for the rim (if you’re into that kind of thing)

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass then dip into salt or sugar. The 1st three ingredients can be shaken, blended or poured over ice. Enjoy!

While we are discussing summer faves I have to mention this swimsuit. Flagpole is a NYC based boutique that specializes in swimwear that is all class. You should see their collab with Oscar de la Renta -OMG. I have the Shay suit in black (of course). I can’t tell you how difficult it is to find a bathing suit that is not made of strings or a full blown mom suit *gasp* ew, no. The Shay style is super flattering, covers enough and extremely well-made. This suit will last beach days with little ones without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction. Look at my crazy Max lol! What a photobomb.
