I love makeup collabs! Especially when it involves a drugstore makeup brand -limited edition goodies at a great price! Covergirl’s PR company sent me some products from the Katy Kat Collection so I wanted to share with you guys (I was not paid for this post). At under $9.99 each, trying them all out won’t hurt you in the purse.
Just like the singer’s bright and cheerful stage looks, this line is as colorful as she is! Some of the shades are pretty unconventional, are they wearable? Let’s find out…
Pearl Lipsticks
There are four lipstick shades in the pearl formula. At first I didn’t think I’d like any of these because they looked a bit too young for my taste.
Purrty In Pink is a cool, not-too-frosty pale pink. I usually feel like a member of the Golden Girls cast when I think of a pale frost pink, but this was much more subtle than I was expecting. This would look beautiful on pale skin with rosey blushed cheeks.
I was really surprised at how wearable Apricat was. It looked bright orange like a creamsicle. I am not an orange lipstick kind of girl, but I slicked it on and actually loved it! The color came off as a muted peach shade.
Reddy to Pounce is the red shade of the four. It is more sheer than it looks in the tube. I would love this color with a summery tan!
Blue-tiful Kitty is an icy blue color. Definitely edgy but SO not the color for me. It could work on very dark skin, but not light. I can see this being used in an editorial fashion, but not for every day wear to the office. Imagine picking Max up at preschool with blue lips? LOL!
Pearl Eyeliners
The pearl liners are creamy and vibrant which is so nice! I’ve been dying to try a pop of color in my waterline and the green shade Purr-maid would be great for this. The off white shade Kitty Whispurr applied to the waterline will make eyes appear more rested and bigger. There is a smudger on the opposite end of these in case you wanted some smoked out blending action. These liners get a big ole YES from me.
Pearl Shadows & Highlighters
Tiger Rose and Tiger’s Eye are swatched below. I like Tiger’s eye applied to the eyelid and on the cupid’s bow above the top lip. I think I may try Tiger Rose under my lip gloss. The texture is firm, not super-creamy so I don’t recommend it on cheeks.
You can pick these up at your local drugstore or here.
