If you’re new here, (hi!) you may not know that I have an art degree and teach visual arts by day. Hopefully my career gives my humbled opinion some kind of credibility. I have to show you guys what I am most excited about lately in the worlds of art & accessories. Fashion is most definitely an art form and when masters of art & fashion collide, it is a beautiful thing.
Jeff Koons (for those that don’t know) is a visual artist born in the USA. His work is concerned mostly with pop culture and his reproductions of objects. Case in point: the Balloon Dog.
Koons was highly criticized for his collab with H&M a few years back, but you can’t keep this man down!
I want to start a Go Fund Me page so I can purchase one of these amazing works of art. Not kidding.
Oh if money were no object…
I am not a logo girl. I’m not crazy about bags emblazoned with logos all over because it’s just not my style. LV is an iconic label and wouldn’t knock what the brand has done for fashion and craftsmanship. These bags aren’t covered in logos, but Koons turned the trademark Vuitton bag styles such as the Never Full and the Speedy into functional art. Turning the classics (DaVinci’s Mona Lisa, VanGogh’s Cypress Trees) It’s a spin on his Gazing Ball paintings which are a spin on the classic master works of the world’s most recognizable art. This project is basically the Inception of art.
