Art Prints From Minted

Something about spring makes me want to refresh everything in my house.  I want new curtains, new toss pillows, bedding, artwork, everything.

If you’re new around here, I am an art teacher by day. So artwork in my house is chosen painstakingly for a few reasons.

1. Cost.  I am a school teacher.  Nobody goes into the teaching field for the money.  All art needs to be affordable
2. Versatility.  I get bored easily and need to change things up often.  I like to move art from one room to another, so I need to find art with a certain color scheme that will work in each room.
3. Quality.  Art is my thing, so I won’t hang just anything.
4. Uniqueness.  I love a good classic, but not when it comes to art.  I prefer the obscure and unique.  Minted offers work from amateur artists and photographers as well as professionals.

The peeps at Minted.com asked me to collab and report back here.  I was not paid for this post, but I was sent artwork that I chose complimentary.  All opinions are mine.

Minted.com has an insaaaaane selection of art prints.  Almost too many to choose from.  When I went to the website to select pieces for my dining room I felt the same way that I do when I walk into Forever 21 -overwhelmed.   Then I noticed that there were search filters and all was well.

I knew I wanted high key artwork (the art term for very light), I also knew what size and subject.  I instantly narrowed my search.

From 5,483 choices to 115.  Enough to have a variety but still within my constraints.

I “favorited” the ones I liked and narrowed it down even further.  I ultimately chose this print that reminded me of a place I’ve always wanted to go.  Santorini.  See it on Minted here. I know that every time I look at this, I’ll be inspired to explore.  There were so many frame options also.  I loved that you could see what the art will look like in the various frames.  I chose reclaimed barn wood because I have a lot of the same type of wood finished throughout our home (so I could move the art around from room to room).

The second piece I chose had the same color scheme and was also a photograph of architecture.  I like how both pieces had repeated shapes to give a sense of rhythm. Same barn wood frame. It’s called Arches, get more details here.

The art arrived within days and I was pleasantly surprised at how thin and lightweight the frames were.   Hanging hardware comes attached already.  I only had to hammer a single nail in the wall for each piece.  I also really like that instead of glass, there is a hard plastic in the frame.  Having two little boys that mistake our home for a sports complex, it’s nice to know that shattered glass will not be an issue if Max or Dante score a field goal!  These frames would be great in a playroom or kid’s bedroom for this reason.

 

I chose two similar works because I planned on hanging the art on both sides of our bay window.

I can’t be happier with the framed artwork from Minted.  I would order from them again in a minute.
