What is it about brunch that makes girls like me ecstatic?! Mimosas? Perhaps. Excuse for a date with my girls? Better believe it. My favorite redhead and I made our way around the block from the Langham Place Hotel on 5th Avenue into Trademark Taste + Grind for some girl time and great food.
Decor
Hello curb appeal #AllTheHeartEyes
They must have known we were planning on hardcore brunching.
We walked in and were a bit surprised when it looked like this. Where was the brunch? It looked like a cute coffee shop that I’d pop into on my way to work, not exactly brunching with my babes. I wasn’t mad though, I could tell they did not mess around when it comes to coffee, and I love me some java.
Then I noticed a little white arched hallway in the corner. I instantly felt like I was entering a secret spot. Loved it before I even set foot in it.
There are tables, seats at the bar, and private tufted banquette booths.
You guys, even the lighting fixtures were something! And don’t get me started about the coiffured ceiling.
What I ate
We stayed out late the night before at a NYWF kick off party, so we ordered an acai bowl to start our day with some super-food goodness to recharge our batteries a bit. This was -no lie, the best acai bowl I’ve ever eaten. The texture was cold, smooth and creamy. The bowl was loaded with one good thing after the next.
After we split the bowl, I dove into a crispy mortadella, egg and cheese sandwich served with roasted red potatoes. This hit the spot!!! Crispy, salty, & melty Trademark takes the run-of-the-mill breakfast sandwich and elevates it.
April ordered the Hangover Hash (recommended by our server). Her words “Like a party in my mouth”. -that’s what she said lol (literally)! The menu indicated that meant fennel sausage, poached eggs, cholula hollandaise, & duck fat onions. It sounds like a party for sure.
Service
In a word, phenomenal. Our server was attentive and was happy to give us recommendations. He was not bothered by our incessant laughing and dancing, in fact he seemed amused which is always nice. Service with a smile? Check.
Bonus
The vibe in this place was spectacular! The music was upbeat and on point. From We Built This City On Rock & Roll to Outkast, pop bangers just kept coming. We were dancing and singing in our seats (forever the spectacle).
Verdict
I highly recommend Trademark Taste + Grind for great food, service and a fun atmosphere! Located in the heart of midtown, it’s a sure bet. Check out their website here for more info.
