I started to write this post months ago (like 6 or 7 months ago). Rugs USA sent me a gorgeous area rug to review. I could have reviewed the rug after only having it for a couple of weeks, but I like to think that this blog has integrity. I want to give you all an honest and real product review and felt that the only way to do so was to wait until the rug has been through a decent amount of traffic.
A living room should be one of the coziest in a home. It’s where nights are spent snuggled up on the couch watching movies, where blanket forts are made by toddlers, and where we can curl up and read a book. Our living room had “cozy potential” but we ripped up the carpet when we moved in to replace it with hard wood floors. Don’t get me wrong, I love hard wood flooring, but our living room was missing that certain softness that an area rug adds to a room. This tiny rug from Ikea is way too small for the space. Rocco looks like a fuzzy statue here 🙂
Rugs USA sent this rug when baby Dante was still in my belly, so I was excited that he would have the chance to learn to crawl on a softer surface than Max learned on. I liked the rug online, but loved it more in person. It has a really cool texture. It’s called Cenon Engraved Medallion. The design has a different weave which makes it recessed -and looks engraved. Pretty cool.
At first, it shed which was not so great if I was wearing black. At seven months pregnant, I lived in black leggings, so I was a little fuzzy after sitting on the rug. I think the shedding would have been avoided if I had been smart enough to shake it out in the yard before laying it down on the floor. I vacuumed it repeatedly and after a few months, the shedding has pretty much stopped. It seems to be holding up well! We have put the rug through a winter spent indoors with a two-year-old that received a roller coaster for Christmas.
And baby Dante has a cushy surface to lay his play mat down on 🙂
Rugs USA has a huuuuuge selection at great prices. I love this rug because of the texture it adds to the space. I like that the color is neutral but not boring and has a vintage vibe about it. It definitely ups the cozy factor.
Now all we need is a coffee table or ottoman!

Awesome! It feels so grown up to have a rug that’s big enough to sit under the sofa. I know I’ve bought 6+ rugs from Rugs USA. (I can’t have enough sheepskin!) I don’t know what I would have done without! Your living room is lookin’ good!

Hi Pretty! Thanks for stopping by. The company’s selection is crazy! Almost too many to choose from. I totally agree with you that it feels much more grown up with a big rug. The $20 Ikea was just way too small.
