So in typical Mindy fashion, as soon as I was satisfied with the way our bedroom looked, I changed it. Ugh I can be so annoying sometimes. Well, to be honest, I loved our Pier1 headboard, but it didn’t fit our style anymore. Our room decor was super glam (which I love!) but the rest of our house was more rustic glam…different.
When we got married in 2010, my husband gave me both closets in our room (and the dresser). His stuff was in a closet and dresser in our spare room. Our spare room is now our baby to be’s nursery (in progress). After 4.5 years, he is moving into “my room”. I gave up one of my closets 🙁 and we both officially live in the same room (the post about that traumatic experience of purging my closets is coming soon) . This is a first for me. We decided that I have too much crap that I won’t part with we needed another dresser in the room for his things.
The old dressers in the bedroom is my old set from when I was a teenager and really beat up. We needed grown up stuff. We decided on a grey-washed wood set with lots of storage space. I didn’t want to give up the upholstered headboard look, so this is what we ended up with. The fabric is a textured linen I believe. It had a Restoration Hardware feel without the price tag.
I have always wanted a bench for the foot of the bed, however our room is small. Too small for yet another piece of furniture, so I was stoked to find that this bed has a mini upholstered bench attached to the foot board.
I bought two large fabric storage buckets for my purses and stowed them under each night stand. I also ditched the bulky comforter and duvet for a snuggle-y but warm Sherpa quilt.
The best part of this bed is the six huge drawers underneath. We also swapped out our ugly wooden bi-fold closet doors for these mirrored ones. My father in law scored them for free (a neighbor didn’t want them anymore and they still had the plastic on them!). The mirrors really make our tiny room feel brighter and more spacious.
Just for fun, here’s a before and after of our room when we first moved in and what it looks like now.
That bed looks gorgeous! Where’d you find it? And I can only imagine how much bigger the room must feel with the mirrored doors now! I love that you called it your room, I call the guest room my room now bc it has all my stuff in it lol
Yes those doors were game changers. Our bedrooms are so so tiny. Not only does it make the room feel bigger, but so much brighter!
I’m sorry. Did you mention where you found the bed? I love the upholstered look and storage!

Baby Girl, you did an amazing job on the room! It’s rustic yet still flirting with a touch of glam.
Hi Brandy!! So glad you stopped by my blog! Yes, you know, I have to keep it a little rustic in CT. But me being me, I have to add that touch of glam 😉
