Pizza. It’s one of those universal joys of food. Everyone loves pizza. It’s not the most complicated dish, but the variations are pretty much limitless. My favorite pizza is potato, olive oil, grated cheese & rosemary. Carbs on carbs with some olive oil. Yeeeeeah. Click here for that recipe, trust, you’ll thank me later.
Speaking of pizza, Max had his first taste of pizza crust a week ago. Judging by the fact that he has the most bite-able chubby baby wrists, and the fact that he was practically flapping, he enjoyed it thoroughly.
I saw this recipe in a Parenting magazine and needed to make it. That same day. It was one of those “Why didn’t I ever think of this?!” recipes. Berries on pizza. Let me preface this by saying I don’t really like blackberries, raspberries or blueberries. I don’t hate them, but they just don’t do it for me. I just love the idea of fruit on pizza so much that I made it. I am a berry convert now. This is so fresh, tangy, sweet, crispy-yet-chewy. In other words, no-fail. It’s a dessert not a dinner. Unless you’re me.
Ingredients:
pizza dough (about 10 oz)
1 T melted butter
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 c each fresh blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries
1/4 c sugar
Make it:
*Preheat oven to 375 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll dough into a circle-ish shape.
*Stir oil and butter in a small bowl, then brush onto dough.
*spread out berries evenly and sprinkle with sugar. Bake about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Slice & serve! Go ahead and pin this one, guys. It’s a keeper.
I have so many ideas for variations on this that I can’t wait to test out. What’s you’re favorite kind of pizza?

Do you live in a place where you can buy fresh-just-picked berries? I don’t usually care for raspberries, or really any berry, from the store, but fresh from the farm stand and I will eat them by the quart!

Yes, they’re definitely in season around here. So, far I only like these berries with sugar or in champagne 😉
