It’s been a crazy week for me. The lack of posting was due to an insane amount of organizing and preparing at work. My coworker & I hosted our first school-wide arts & crafts festival. Six hundred urban students crafting like crazy. It was so amazing. I will post about it next week.
I’ve received an email from an FSL reader. Michelle works in a wellness spa in NY. She wanted to share her views on how to live a healthy lifestyle with you all. Since last week was Women’s Health Week, this was an appropriate topic. Not to mention it’s 90 degrees today and bikini season just kicked my fro-yo eating door in.
Here’s what she’s got to say:
Whether it’s reaching weight loss goals or achieving better overall health, balance is a crucial component to your success. But how can we create balance in the midst of the chaos in our lives? Being healthy is a revolutionary act that begins with you. With National Women’s Health Week kicking off on May 12th, it’s the perfect month to get motivated and begin your journey to a healthier life.
The goal is to help you organize your thoughts in a meaningful way that synthesizes your efforts and keeps your mind focused on the destination.
Making an inspiration board should be a fun task not a dreaded chore. To begin, search for images, words and items that inspire you to achieve better health.
Next, examine each image and item carefully to see what links them together. What do they have in common? How do they relate to you and your health and fitness goals?
Choose one image, word, or item to be the anchor point of your inspiration.
Arrange your images and items around your anchor point on your board. Eliminate anything that doesn’t seem to fit with you anchor point.
Finally, place the board in a location which you will see every single day. This is your creation, designed to remind you of your goal.
Along the journey, feel free to add new images, words, or items to your board. A great example would be the progress of your measurements and weight loss. There are no rules about your inspiration board. Enjoy the process every step of the way.
Example:
Golf is great because not only is it less strenuous physical activity, but you also are able to enjoy the outdoors and walk, a lot. To me, there’s no better feeling than enjoying the outdoors. (photo credit)
Really any activity outdoors can be motivating. You feel like you have more energy when you are out enjoying the warm weather. Try leisurely activities like fishing or kayaking with a friend. If you are looking to build some strength, a less intense activity might be yoga. (photo credit)
Perfect for all athletic levels, yoga can be adjusted to be more challenging or less challenging. There are a lot of great resources on the internet for beginner yoga. (photo credit)
Green protein smoothies make for an easy on-the-go breakfast for those chaotic mornings trying to get the family out the door. Smoothies are great because you can customize the ingredients you use in your smoothie. (photo credit)
New Workout gear like yoga pants, sneakers, or a new ipod is always an easy way to help boost motivation. (photo credit)

Thanks Michelle!! I’m all for moodboards whether for a room’s decor or inspiration for living a healthy lifestyle.
A nutritious diet, exercise, and a peaceful pleasant mindset is the key to happiness 🙂
How do you keep in shape? Any healthy recipes you want to share with FSL readers?

This design is wicked! You certainly know how to
keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my
own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
