It’s no secret that I am totally star struck by celebrity chefs & restaurateurs . They are my rock stars. Anthony Bourdain is my Mick Jagger. Read me thoughts on his thoughts of Food As A Philosophy here.
He has been known to be in favor of fresh local cuisine and creative food that pushes the envelope. He’s all for food with real soul and integrity. So when he spoke highly of David Chang, I noticed.
A couple of years ago, my mother & I ate at Ma Peche and I was hooked. The menu was innovative, the presentation was dead on, and the ingredients both seasonal and local. Even the ambiance was understated yet somehow lush which seem to be an underlying theme.
I define myself as a sweet eater first, however. One taste of crack pie from Milk Bar (Momofuku dessert spot) and I was sold hook, line & sinker. Before I left, I bought (and tasted) compost cookies, corn cookies, marshmallow cornflake cookies, and a few others. The genius behind these insanely addictive creations is Christina Tosi.
I read the Milk Bar cook book from cover to cover. It is loaded with anecdotal goodness and stories from Tosi’s past that explains where some of these ideas came from (liquid cheesecake, potato chips in cookies, fruity pebble cereal milk…) .
I almost choked on my Nutella when I saw this post on Instagram:
David Chang & Christina Tosi will be having a book signing May 16th from 7-8PM and May 23rd from 7-8 in NYC.
And I need to be there.
Are there any foodies out there that want to join me? I’ll buy the first round of cookies 😛

Oh my goodness, so funny you mentioned this. We just made David Chang’s famous Momofuku BO SSÄM tonight for dinner (and I read a bunch of articles about him yesterday!) We saw the recipe in the NY Times a little over a year ago and make it from time to time- it’s awesome/delicious/amazing- I wish we had it more often/could go to NYC and have them make it for us. YUM. I can only imagine dessert is just as amazing. I want to go!

YEAH!!! The dessert is just as imaginative. I just read that they’re offering baking classes to the public! Guess who’s going this summer!

And how do we sign up?! I mean 6 hours is not THAT far to drive for dessert! 🙂
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
If you make the drive I will meet you 🙂 #ForReals
