This blog has made me realize that I have an obsessive personality. My Nutella addiction slowly became evident as I scrolled through the FSL Recipe Page a while back.
My spray paint fixation runs deeper than Nutella. Yes. Major. It all started as a kid. Being an 80’s baby, I have always loved graffiti and street art. I would spend hours sketching graffiti letters and my own characters.
My cousin and I were fortunate to live near hiking trails and woods. At the ripe old age of 12 we used to sneak her father’s spray paint and take it into the woods. We’d spray a dot on rocks to mark our path Hansel & Gretel style. We would write our names on boulders and feel bad a$$. Vandals. Gangstas.
Maybe it’s genetic. My dad would spray paint things around the house. One time, he redid my mother’s kitchen hutch that I HATED. It went from old ladyish to Pottery Barn in an hour. Instant gratification. Spray paint is the crack of all paint. I was hooked. I used to get in trouble for getting spray paint on our back deck (that my father built) because I wanted to make my own decorative dishes. I would print out 50’s pin-up models, mod podge them to the backs of clear dollar store plates, then use lace as a stencil and spray paint over it. I just might do it again and post it here. The idea had some creative merit.
I digress.
Oil. Rubbed. Bronze. In a can. It’s like Cheez Whiz but in the most magically fantastic way.
The fixtures in our new bathroom have an oil rubbed bronze finish. I love the old, rich look of it. We needed to get matching bathroom accessories since our old set was brushed nickel. I didn’t want to buy all new stuff. It’s too easy and less personal plus, I’m cheap. I had this hot pink trash pail that I scored at Target for $2 a couple of years ago.
It was in my old craft room (RIP craft room) *sob*.
Mr. FSL wanted to toss this thing out a while ago. Being the hoarder that I am, it was safely stowed away. Muahahahah! I fired up the Rustoleum and sprayed 2 light coats.
Boom.
I also hit the goldish mason jar soap cap with the paint so it would coordinate. I took the cap off before I took this picture, but it was the same gold color you see here.
It’s the little things that make a room work.
Does anyone else have any outlandish fixations? Nutella lover? Spray paint extraordinaire? Hoarding issues? Let’s talk it out.

OBSESSED with spray paint. I ORB’d all my door hardware last summer and most recently spray painted a bunch of cheap-o black plastic frames white to make a gallery wall. AMY+SPRAYPAINT 4EVA (in your best graffiti font circa 1992)
