Last night we finally decided that we are going to update our main bathroom! Not a total gut and reno but we squirreled away enough money for a new toilet, vanity, mirror, a fresh coat of paint and a maybe a shelf or two. Mr. FSL usually plays the responsible/practical part in these types of situations, where I play myself AKA the dreamer/spender. We always end up compromising.
We want to have it done by Max’s baptism party on 3/24. That’s like two weeks away. What?! We like to keep thing interesting around here I guess. Plus I work best under pressure 😉
I have only one problem. I can’t commit to a decor theme. I want it to compliment and flow with the rest of our house, but there are too many directions I can go in! We have beautiful slate tile and espresso trim in there. It is a small space, so I know we can get a huge impact on the cheap.
Here are the inspiration pics I’ve gathered and what I like about them.
I love the clean look of an all white bathroom. I’m obsessed with the marble top and can we please talk about how cute those lights are?! I am a little worried that the white vanity will get dirty easily. If you have a white bathroom vanity, is it easy to maintain?
I thought that a dark vanity with a white top would be a good choice also. The white top would look clean against a crisp white paint job and contrast with the dark wood. Also, we have darker wood stained trim throughout the house. This might keep the flow a bit better.
This vanity is a warmer wood tone which is the same as the hardwood flooring we have in the rest of our home. I love the polish that this room has. It’s clean, but not too cold.
This has the pop from the dark wood vanity, but the freshness of the monochromatic white accessories. The ouch of sparkle from the silvery mirror get this room exactly right.
This bathroom seems easy to pull off. The grey walls would pick up the slate tiles nicely. I could have the white that I love with the practicality of the dark wood. Plus if I want to add in a pop of color this would be a neutral backdrop.
I have to keep in mind that our bathroom is kind of small. Not as small as this one, but I have to stay realistic in my choices. I tend to get carried away and want to spend a bazillion dollars and then I get reminded by Mr. FSL about staying within our budget. Party pooper 😉
Any suggestions on a good white paint choice? Dark wood, warm wood vanity or white?
Please give me your opinion. Help!

Hmm, I’m a big fan of white but I honestly think all of your inspiration photos look great.
