There have been some FSL redecorating shenanigans going on around here. A full nursery update on the blog is in store for the near future. But for today, just a glimpse. Small touches can really give a room a shot of personality. I want to share with you guys a quick D-I-Y that can be used in any room in the house. First, you’ll need one of these.
I have a zillion of these stain markers lying around the house. Minwax makes them in so many different finishes for touching up nicks and scratches in wooden furniture. I happen to be clumsy and careless. I also enjoy using sandpaper, screwdrivers, etc at our dining room table since my craft room is now the guest room (insert dramatic sobbing here). Needless to say, I use these touch-up markers regularly to avoid getting yelled at for yet another scratch in our new table.
Grab some dollar store wooden letters and cover your work surface with newspaper or Saran wrap or whatever you get your little paws on 😉
Make sure you’re in a well ventilated space. These markers smell like they can deplete brain cells. Lately, I have none of those to spare, I need all the brain cells I have left. Color the letters. See?! I told you that was easy! Allow them to dry fully. I let mine dry overnight. Then hang your letters wherever you’d like.
The darker stain makes the wood look more rich and aged (and not so cheap).
This project kind of got me thinking about using these markers on other things… Stay tuned for more stain marker D-I-Y!

Stain pens rock. Love those letters! Clever idea. I would’ve spent some time messing around with a can of stain and a sponge, on and on. This is smart.

Love that storage caddy above the changing table! Any idea where I can find one?

I have seen the priced version on restoration hardware’s baby and hold website. I found this at TJ Maxx for under $50.

Hi, can you tell me what color stain marker you used to acheive that color on the letters? Thanks!
