Since Max is 3 months old today (where did the time go?), I’d like to share yet another schmorgasboard of baby pictures. Oh. Yeah. And a D-I-Y idea 😉 . A while back, I shared this quick and easy canvas art project. I created this to be hung up in a reading nook with bookshelves and a glider in the nursery.
After all of the furniture was in the room, I made a painful discovery. The reading nook wasn’t happening. The room is just too small for a glider, and the chair in there now won’t even fit into the corner fully. I could cram in a “nook”, but clutter gives me anxiety so I scrapped the project. Being the hoarder that I am, scrapped projects don’t get thrown out (Mr. FSL just loves my brilliant-ideas-turned-scrapped-projects lying around the house). I stashed the canvas behind Max’s crib just in case the room magically got bigger and I could make the nook. I have some ideas for that small corner, but this canvas is not it anymore.
I used the Britten fabric from Ikea because I like anything handwritten. The fabric has numbers written in cursive. When Max turned one month old, I went to take his photo wearing his “1 Month” bodysuit. I thought I’d use the canvas as a back drop. Taking pictures of a floppy infant isn’t easy. I tried to sit him up on a blanket covered boppy pillow which wasn’t working very well. After a zillion takes, I put him on his back on top of the canvas and started snapping. I’ve seen people use fabric as a backdrop, but I don’t have time to iron anymore lol! Since the fabric is stretched on a padded canvas, it’s always wrinkle free, plus it’s cushy for the baby.
What’s your favorite way you’ve seen baby milestone photos done? Do you toss your scrapped project or do they get sent to the garage “just in case” ?

Love it! He really is one of the cutest kids I have seen. And I don’t think all kids are cute. I’m that person.
