How I’m feeling: Great! Working out regularly (light weights and cardio). Lots of walking. Sciatic nerve pain is gone (for now *fingers crossed*)! I’m loving feeling all of the baby’s movements Starting to get a bit nervous because I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m a first timer at all of this baby business. My husband’s cousin just had a baby last week. When I used to hold or see newborns, my thought would be “Aw, how cute! Maybe SOMEDAY I’ll have one…” this time it was more like “Woah. I will have one of these in a few months and I have no clue what I am doing.” Cue Mindy’s mini-meltdown.
New and exciting: Lindsey had her twin baby shower this past weekend. It was a southern back yard barbecue theme (more on that to come next week). I can actually see the baby moving in my belly if I lay still. I am finished with the school year, so I feel like I can finally start getting things done. I have a list of DIY projects to tackle in the next few months!!
Lame Stuff: Connecticut is going through a heat wave. Think high 90’s. My fingers are starting to swell and my rings are getting snug.
Comments From Random People: Some guy was totally checking me out (I had my purse in front of my belly fumbling for my keys). When I moved my purse (and my belly was visible) he shook his head no, grimaced, and said “What a total waste”. I was basically in disbelief that he just said that, and all I could muster up was a knee-jerk “WOW.” I kept walking. Wow. The usual comments from the people at my gym “Should you be doing that?” “Does your husband approve of you lifting weights” etc. It’s always weird when a random person asks you if you plan on breast feeding. Um, awkward.
Cravings: Lots of the same stuff. Tomato sauce, ketchup, ice cold milk in cereal, popsicles, fudgesicles, turkey bacon 😛 .
Apparently I’m digging ice cream too. Here’s a recent text between me & my husband…
Aversions: asparagus (still), grilled or dry or plain chicken.
Baby is the size of: a large grapefruit
The baby at 23 weeks:
- She or he is forming little nipples (yeah, really!)
- The face is fully formed now — it just needs a little extra fat to fill it out.
- Baby’s listening to your voice and your heartbeat — and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking…ahem, Rocco.

How are all you pregnant mamas out there? What week are you in? How are you coping with the summer heat?!

People are so rude! Why must they be so rude? SMH. Try to ignore them, keeping in mind that, sometimes, it’s easier said then done to do that. Continue being healthy and happy. You already have so much more than many of them have. 🙂
Asparagus is just ick, anyway!! lol!!

I totally agree. Some people are so rude.

the remark i have for the “guy” (<–another inappropriate word i would like to use) would have been way more than wow but i know with the face you made at him, which i can picture, said it all. i get the filter sometimes is nonexistant for people, but thats after a few drinks, not in a store. i can think of a lot of things i would have wanted to say to him, but i probably would have only been able to only get one word out too. he was just a jerk, you look great and he is a waste of life in my book. thats all 🙂
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
Thanks Mushy. I was kind of at a loss for words when he said that. I wasn’t expecting him to say anything at all.

Ugh some people can be SO rude!! What a total idiot that guy was. I think a really hard part of being pregnant (that you really never think about before you become pregnant) is the rude comments from people who don’t think before they speak. Just keep doing your thing and ignore the ignorant people 🙂
I am starting my 21st week today and we just found out on Monday that it’s a BOY! I’ve been feeling really great. Summer vacation just started for me as well (I’m a teacher) so I finally feel like I have some time to plan and think about what things we need to get for the nursery, plus do the registry. My biggest craving the past few days has been ice cold watermelon. The heat has been killing me and watermelon really hit the spot. Also eating frozen red grapes now too!
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
Yes. I never thought about what other people would say to me when I became pregnant. Weird. Some people don’t think before they speak.
A boy!! I feel like everyone is having boys!! Watermelon sounds awesome to me too. This heat has been crazy!
