Oh yes I did! I was on such a high from the outcome of the painted desk, I went to GoodWill yesterday in search of a chair to fix up.
I was looking for something wooden with nice curvy lines to compliment the desk. Ideally with some part of it upholstered (I’ve always wanted to tackle that DIY project!).
**POOF!**
He was perfect!
Check out the price tag on this puppy!
Yes, you read that right! Sweet! $5.99 didn’t hurt the ole wallet!
The curvature of the wood is beautiful, and with a little TLC & some new fabric, this baby is gonna be perfect.
I’m definitely using a patterned fabric. Maybe stain it very dark wood and use cheetah print fabric? Maybe paint it silver & use purple damask fabric?
Any suggestions?
Can’t wait to see the end product!
ME too! Glad to hear from you Lees
Don’t know the other colors in your house but go big and bold and break out the color wheel again. I’m thinking Bright Pink or Yellow up against the desk. Maybe to much! What about a nice warm Chocolate?
I can’t wait to see what you do! I love antique furniture, and even more when it’s updated.
OOOH! EXCITEZ!
Ohhh… I cant WAIT to start flea market hunting and thrift store shopping when I move!!! You’re inspiriing me BIG time
I can’t even stop myself! LOL! I’m out of control.
Out of control can be fun sometimes, so smile and go for it!!!!
Oh I think you should stain the wood darker and then go for a light teal blue!! I can’t wait to see it! Might have to hit up my thrift store on the way home 🙂
I’ve already started! It’s not what I had in mind at first, but I love the way it’s coming out!! Stay tuned 😉

Love It, you did good on that one! I love damask but not so sure about the purple, since the desk is turquoise, I would say something in the green spectrum would work better but that is jmo. If you cant find any damask a large paisley might be nice. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I found a fun pattern that is definately multi colored. I spend about 2 hours in the fabric store! Gah!
Oh the form of that chair is so cute. You could paint it white and go with a mod print fabric. That way it can go anywhere and would sort of work as a compliment.
Girl, we are on the same page 😉

We’re always on the same page, that makes me smile. I was thinking since it’s a small upholstery job, you may be able to use a fabric swatch. A lot of designers or manufacturers give them away when the fabric is out of print. That way it’s free and you may find something super cute. I don’t know if you have any furniture places close by (like Ethan Allen or something like that), but it may be a free way of getting some good fabric.
Great idea! I went to the fabric store yesterday and found a remnant of a pretty funk design for just $1!!
I look forward to seeing how you do it. We have some chairs that need recovering. One of them even has a tiny tack that pokes through the cushion. Ouch! We need some new padding.
OUCH! LOL! You should re do that one for sure!
You are turning into the thrifting queen!! Great find.
I love to-be-continued posts!! 🙂
When you’re on a tight budget, ya gotta do what ya gotta do! LOL!
You have so inspired me to check out my local thrift store! Can’t wait to see what the finished product looks like!
Purple would be ultra cool. It makes me feel royal.
But that’s just me. haha.
I actually considered painting the desk purple before I chose the blue. Good call.

It’s just about finished! I can’t wait to put it together & take some pics!
Hi, I’m Sarah. You have a great blog! May I suggest white wood with a distressed look by using sandpaper and a great vintage floral for the seat. You have inspired me to go thrifting soon! I need pieces for the town house I just moved in. Check out my very NEW blog http://sarahruthmiles.wordpress.com/. Have a Happy Easter!!
