I feel like I’ve been so busy lately, that I’ve been neglecting myself. My workout schedule has been shot, so I got up early (6:20 AM) and went to the gym for a cardio session. It was a great way to start the day. I even did a load of laundry when I got home.
All of a sudden I felt like I hit a wall. I was exhausted. I think I’ve worn myself out. My body is really indicative of my mental state. It always has been. If I spread myself too thin, I usually end up getting sick if I don’t take it easy at the first sign. I’ve learned to listen to my body over the years. I don’t get sick nearly as much as I used to. But, life happens.
The months of March and April are jammed with events. Every single weekend is a birthday or anniversary party. Every one. My body is feeling the stress. I’ve been trying to eat extra good nutrient rich food (hello spinach!). I’ve been trying to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. Despite my fight, my immune system is losing the battle 🙁
I am resting tonight. I am taking a bath, ordering chicken & rice soup from the Chinese restaurant down the street, and going to sleep at 8.
I might even paint my toes and flip through a magazine (which I haven’t done since we moved into our house. Sometimes silly “beauty treatments” like doing my toes or taking a bubble bath make me feel more calm.
Speaking of beauty treatments, Karina decided that her mommy’s lipstick was just the thing she needed last night. She looked so good, she sat in the mirror & gave herself a big smooch! Self love is so important. The simplicity of a child’s mind is sometimes more wise than anything.

What do you do when you are fighting off a sickness? Any home remedies? I’m desperate 🙂
Kelly @ D2BD & Cocktails & Cardio says
The best home remedy I can think of is already through of… giving yourself a little TLC and rest! My mom always used to make me crushed up ice in the blender and poured OJ over it. It always made me feel so much better. So I usually hit OJ hard when I start to feel a bit run down or ill, over regular ice.
Your dinner sounds like it will be great as well as the soak in the warm tub. I say curl up with that magazine and enjoy yourself.
Get well and get rested! ox

Oh hun, sometimes life just…. gets out of control. It’s not easy and losig sleep is NOT fun, but the best thing you can do is just keep eating well, rest when you can, try and squeeze in a nap if necessay…. and when you can keep hitting the gym, it ALWAYS makes me feel better!
HUGS!!!

I think we’re all the same way, when you are stressed and spread yourself really thin then you aren’t being good to yourself. When I feel ill like that I know it’s a warning sign that I have to change what I am doing and how I do it. But my quick fix is the same, chicken soup (but I like to make it) and some rest. If I am a bit run down, just rest, if I am up to it a silly video and some nail painting. We girls need to take good care of ourselves. Hope you feel better Mindy 🙂

Thanks Danielle. I don’t even want to cook, that’s how I know I’m under the weather, LOL

Hey Mindy, glad you are taking time to slow down and rest. When I get sick I find the best remedy is almost always….to sleep! Rest is important. I agree with you on self-love. I usually pluck my eyebrows and admire my work of art in the mirror after that and I instantly feel good LOL!
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
Thanks Tien. I’m a crazy eyebrow plucker too!
