Nothing can make you look prettier than full long lashes. You can seriously be makeup free, pop on a pair of falsies and suddenly look glam. Fleeky lashes are the most impactful way to appear more awake. That being said, not all false lashes are created equal. I’ve done the research for you and am here to report.
The best type of lashes for you depends on a few key things.
- How dramatic do you want your lashes to look?
- What is your budget?
- Are you going for length, volume, or both?
Here are my thoughts…
Maximum Drama & Luxury
Esqido sent me a pair of their Noir Collection mink lashes in “Black Magic”. J-Lo and Beyonce both have reported wearing Esqido mink lashes. If these are good enough for them, I figured they should be up to snuff for me. They come with a $40 price tag, but since they’re reusable I could justify it since I’d usually toss drugstore versions after one use.
The minks showed up in a white croc embossed box and the company threw in their adhesive for me to try. These bad boys are not for the shy. They were insanely long. I never say this because I luuuurve me some hoochie lashes, but I think they were too long. Mr. FSL (who never rains on my makeup parade -bless his heart) was like, “JEEZ! Those things are crazy”. I’m not sure if this was due to the fact that my eyes are huge to begin with, but they had me looking like Minnie Mouse in drag. There are other ways to look more awake than HUGE lashes like a great eye cream. I’ll post soon about the best firming eye cream reviews that I’ve found soon.
The quality was wonderful, the adhesive worked so well, I actually fell asleep in the lashes and they stayed put for another full day. I’d like to try out a different pair of a less intense style. If you want maximum drama and length, these are for you. Click here to check them out.
Luxe For Less
Dodo Lash sent me a pair of their mink lashes to try out and they didn’t disappoint. They’re lashes are only $5! $5 mink lashes are unheard of (pssst use promo code FindingSilverLinings to get a discount). Shipping takes a little while, but it’s worth the wait. I tried style D105 and was shocked my the wearablility. The band was very thin and flexible making them really easy to apply. Here’s what they look like on (via my Instagram post).
The Do-Gooder Lashes
So, you love lashes but don’t want to look like RuPaul? There’s a lash for that. A new company called Mandy Cosmetics makes amazing lashes. This brand is different from others because they make mink lashes but are cruelty free. Wait. What? Yes you read that correctly. The hairs are collected in the shedding season. 5% of every purchase goes to breast cancer awareness too. Double win. Mandy sent me lashes to try out and I LOVE the style “Natural Beauty”. They’re $14.99 and worth every penny.
I applied these on a day that I just did not feel like swiping on 3,000 coats of mascara per my usual routine. They look super natural and are a bit longer on the outer edges which elongates my very round eyes. I could wear these every day. These lashes are made really well and are said to be worn 25+ times. Get them here.
The “I’m Not Wearing False Lashes” False Lashes
Ardell makes some of the most widely used lashes (you can find them in just about every drugstore). They’re inexpensive too. If I want a little more volume or length or both, but don’t want the look of a strip lash, I use Arell’s individual lashes. They’re a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of applying them, they are virtually undetectable and look AMAZING.
There is a special glue that is made for individual lashes, but I have found that DUO black lash adhesive works best. The Lashtite (that comes with the individuals) is like superglue and rips my lashes out when I try removing them. I like a multipack like this one that I can customize (shorter lashes on the inner edge, longer on the outer etc). The knot free kind are the best and are sometimes tough to find, get them here.
Silk Lashes
I saved my favorites for last. Battington Lashes is a new company that sent me a few pairs to test drive and report back to you. You guys, these are the best strip lashes I have ever used. First off they’re silk, so they are cruelty free and super-light-weight. Their 3-D silk collection is almost fluffy. They are the prettiest lashes I’ve ever worn. Here’s what the”Monroe” style looks like on me. These are priced mid-range at about $25.
Battington Lashes have very, very thin bands making them really easy to apply without the ends popping up. I highly recommend these. Plus you can reuse them 25+ times. I can’t say enough good things about them. Get yours here.
What are your thoughts on falsies? Should I do my first YouTube tutorial on how to apply lashes?
