You know, not too many things are better than a good old Poptart. A flaky pastry shell stuffed with gooey, sweet pilling. It brings back memories of childhood. Doesn’t that just sound awesome?! Well guess what, I have a recipe for you. When about 18″ of snow was dumped on CT this week, I made these babies while being trapped in my house.
I mean, I guess I could have cleaned, done some grad school homework, or something like that. But Max was napping and my pregnant belly was demanding Poptarts. And Nutella. Who am I to argue?
This recipe is perfect for a Valentine’s Day dessert. How perfect does a bottle of Pinot Noir, a good Pandora station and you and your sweetie making these together on V-Day sound?! They’re super simple to make. Kids would actually enjoy making these too.
Ingredients:
- Refrigerated pie crust
- Nutella (I used about 1/3 cup for a ton of these)
- 1 egg (beaten)
- paper lollipop sticks that could be baked (I used the regular Wilton pop sticks)
Directions:
Pre-heat the oven to 325F. Unroll the pie crust and cut out your shapes using a small cookie cutter.
Trace the edge of one pie crust shape with egg, then plop a tiny amount of Nutella in the center.
Place your lollipop stick in the middle, then place another crust shape on top of it.
Using a fork, press to seal the two pieces together.
Place pops onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush on egg wash and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
