I am the Queen of Procrastination, so last minute is my middle name. Since I am an art teacher, people always expect a creative craft-a-liscious gift from me. No pressure right?! Well, this year I figured out a way to add a personalized crafty touch to some gifts for free.
Last night, Max and I made salt dough ornaments. He is only two but this was a project that was totally doable for him. I mixed 1 cup salt, 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water to make the dough. I rolled it out and gave him cookie cutters. I also wanted a hand print and footprint. I used a straw to poke holes at the tops to be able to string the ornaments later.
Bake these at 200 F for about 2 hours. When they’re cooled completely, paint them.
This project was free because I had all of the ingredients and the Sharpie paint pens to decorate them after they were cooled. You could use craft paint but I had paint markers and just used what I had lying around.
I was so pleased with they way they turned out! How cute are these?! I’m adding them to gift tags for a little something extra.

Did the sharpie paint pens last?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
Yes they do! The paint pens are oil based which makes them last.
