I’ve been on a bit of a dessert bender lately. The evidence is splashed all over this blog. Gooey Butter Bars, Nutella Truffles… yeah you get the idea. Everything in moderation. I eat healthy about 80% of the time. In the summer, I’d say 90%. Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste good or is filled with Splenda and/or tofu.
I will not can not give up chocolate. Period. I’m no quitter 😉 You don’t need to sacrifice the tastes you love in the name of health. You just have to do a little research and have an imagination. I found this recipe the other day on Chocolate Covered Katie, made some tweaks, and 5 minutes later, I was munching on a healthy snack.
I don’t usually use the words cookie dough in the same sentence as healthy. There’s a first for everything. If these didn’t taste good, I wouldn’t post the recipe. Trust me, you want to make these. They taste exactly like cookie dough.
Ingredients
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
2T light agave nectar
2 scoops protein powder (I used chocolate)
1/8 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Mix them all up, roll them into bite-sized balls. You can eat them right after you roll them, but I like them a little bit more firm, so I refrigerated them and ate a few after about 30 minutes. Store them in the fridge.
It’s not easy to make these things look tasty. They look like something that fell out of Max’s diaper. Trust me. They taste like peanut butter balls. If you have 5 minutes and a handful of ingredients, do yourself the favor.
Toss a few of these in a bag and eat them on the way to work or to fuel up before you hit the gym.
