I don’t have a fireplace, but if I did I’d be sipping a bucket glass of this grown-up holiday spirit juice basking in the glow of my Christmas tree. This recipe for cozy Christmas sangria is liquid holiday cheer.
I won’t put a recipe on the blog that I haven’t tried and loved. This one is no exception. I made the test batch on Thanksgiving and was left with none to spare. It got rave reviews.
I found this recipe on Pinterest from Martha herself. I tweaked it a teensy bit by cutting the added sugar in half.
Ingredients:
2 bottles of Merlot
1 bottle of ginger ale
1/2 cup sugar
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t ground nutmeg
1/2 t ground clove
4-6 oranges sliced
6-10 cinnamon sticks
1/2 bag cranberries
I stirred the wine and soda together first, then added the sugar & spices.
Stir it up until the sugar is dissolved. If you like a sweeter drink, add another 1/2 cup of sugar. Slice up your oranges and dump those in along with the cranberries.
Stir & serve chilled.
It even looks gorgeous!
I never spend a lot on glasses because when people drink, they break #partyfoul. This sangria pitcher & 6 glass set is under $20 if you want to show off your signature drink even more 😉
Enjoy the recipe guys.
Cheers!
Mindy

How many ounces in the bottle of ginger ale? It comes in all sizes from 7 oz. up to 2 liters?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
2 liters
Natalie says
Is the T for tablespoon or teaspoon?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
T is for tablespoon 🙂
Vicki says
and that is correct except that your recipe shows “t” not “T”, so I’m guessing YOUR recipe uses ‘teaspoons, not tablespoons of the spices, am I correct?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
correct 🙂
Maryjane says
Could I make this the night before and let it sit in the fridge?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
I think so, except I’d add anything fizzy right before serving.
Mary says
What sizes Merlot bottles
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
750 mL 🙂 Cheers!
Aimee says
Could this just add easily and deliciously be made with pinot noir or cab?
Mindy@FindingSilverLinings says
Absolutely! Merlot would also be a nice punch!
